Gas cylinder transportation law update

BCGAUK: The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA) has provided an update on its guidance for the transportation of gas cylinders.

Guidance Note 27 – Guidance for the Carriage of Gas Cylinders on Vehicles highlights the key safety information necessary for drivers transporting gas cylinders in a vehicle whilst at work. The content of the publication is in line with advice from the Department for Transport and replaces BCGA Guidance Note 27: 2013.

While thousands of gas cylinders are transported every day without incident, there are certain safety measures that need to be taken. This guidance note explains what you should do to be safe and comply with the law. It provides simplified guidance on safely transporting gas cylinders in order to comply with ADR (5) and provides a method for calculating the threshold level for the quantity for the gas cylinders being carried.

Guidance Note 27 can be downloaded for free here.
