US shipments bounce back in May
US shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps totalled 748,236 units in May 2016, up 1.5% from 737,467 units shipped in May 2015. Shipments of air conditioners increased 2.3% to 510,552 units, up from 499,250 units shipped in May 2015.
In the year-to-date, combined shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps in the US were 2,967,102 units, down from 3,042,250 units shipped in the same period in 2015.
Year-to-date shipments of central air conditioners are down 1.2% to 1,952,676 units, while heat pump shipments decreased 4.8% to 1,014,426 units.
