Webinar celebrates women’s cool contributions

EUROPE: Celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, the EU’s CoolLIFE project is to host a webinar emphasising the contributions of women in the HVACR sector.

The online event will focus on recognising women’s achievements in sustainable space cooling, discussing challenges and opportunities for women in the industry, inspiring future female engineers, and promoting gender inclusivity.

Two panels featuring accomplished women will share insights on professional milestones, mentorship, and innovations shaping the field, while key questions regarding challenges, mentorship, and future trends will be explored.

Those taking part will include former EPEE director general Andrea Voigt, now vice-president, head of global public affairs & sustainability at Danfoss Climate Solutions, and UK refrigeration engineer Charlotte Robinson of Catalent Pharma Solutions, winner of last year’s Women in Cooling video competition.

The webinar will include such topics as professional achievements and contributions, industry changes and milestones, mentorship and the presence of women in EU projects.

Moderated by Ivana Rogulj, senior expert at the Institute for European Energy and Climate Policy Foundation, the event also includes presentations from Delia Villagrasa, director of the Cooling Heating Coalition and Marit Brommer, CEO of International Geothermal Association.

Established in 2022, the CoolLIFE project aims to address the need for sustainable solutions to the EU’s rising demand for space cooling in buildings. The project will develop open-source tools which encourage the consideration of green cooling solutions in public and private decision-making, planning, design, and implementation processes.

The webinar will take place on 11 February from 11:00-13:00 CET.
