Abdalla named as new Smardt CEO

CANADA: Ashraf Abdalla has been appointed as the new CEO of oil-free centrifugal chiller manufacturer Smardt. He succeeds Vince Canino who will lead a new business unit within Smardt.

Abdalla joined the Smardt Chiller Group in August 2020 as global COO. He previously served York International and Johnson Controls as vice president of chiller solutions global line of business, vice president and general manager of the Middle East and Africa region, and vice president and general manager of the global applied commercial business unit.

The change follows Chinese air conditioning manufacturer TICA’s completion of a 100% purchase of the company in May.

A company statement says that Vince Canino will lead a new business unit within Smardt that will “accelerate the introduction of TICA’s products and develop new business models for green solutions” for the North American market.
