UK: A-Gas has successfully recovered 450kg of HFCs from 22 Daikin VRV rooftop units in just five hours.

A-Gas were called in by London-based contractor Maskold Environmental as part of Daikin’s Reclaim with Confidence programme.

In a partnership with A-Gas, the Reclaim with Confidence service is available to specific Daikin customers and supports contractors and end users in the responsible recovery, reclamation, and reuse of refrigerants.

This particular project involved the recovery of 450kg of R407C and R410A and decommissioning of the 22 rooftop units, which also had restricted access.

Traditional recovery methods would have been inefficient and posed safety concerns, so A-Gas deployed its Rapid Recovery on-site service. This mobile solution enabled high-speed refrigerant recovery directly at the rooftop level, eliminating the need for manual equipment transport and significantly reducing project duration.

After conducting an initial site inspection, the A-Gas Rapid Recovery team used flexible hoses to the rooftop units to connect to the recovery systems at ground level.

The team used a pull-pull method to ensure a steady, controlled refrigerant transfer into the recovery cylinders. Once recovered, the refrigerant was securely transported to the A-Gas facility for processing and reclamation.

In all, the Rapid Recovery team completed the job in around five hours. It is estimated that it would have taken the contractor three days to complete the job.
