Copeland ammonia chiller has dairy date

USA: Copeland has supplied its Vilter VQ95 single-screw industrial ammonia heat pump to global dairy processor Saputo for its facility in Abbotsford, British Columbia.

The move to Copeland’s ammonia-based system replaces Saputo’s existing fossil fuel boilers within its Abbotsford plant and is expected to deliver a major reduction in carbon emissions and energy usage.

The Vilter VQ95 industrial heat pump, scheduled for commissioning within six months, is projected to contribute to a 40% reduction in annual CO2 emissions.

Designed to repurpose waste energy, the system will generate 1.5MW of heating capacity.

The VQ95 provides a high standard temperature rating of up to 95ºC with high lift capability in a single-stage system.
