Join a webinar on World Refrigeration Day

Webinars are a key element of the broad array of educational and informative events being organised for World Refrigeration Day on June 26.

Refrigerants for Life

Refrigerants for Life: How Refrigerants Affect Modern Life is the title of a free webinar organised by ASHRAE and UNEP OzonAction.

This Webinar intends to capture the overall global picture of policies, research, and trends of using refrigerants in different applications while presenting the role of industry, governments, and individuals in ensuring the responsible use of refrigerants. Experts will discuss the latest science, applications and legal concerns for those dealing with refrigerants.

Keynote speakers include Didier Coulomb, director general International Institute of Refrigeration; Ray Gluckman, Gluckman Consulting; Andy Pearson, Star Refrigeration; Rajan Rajendran, chairman refrigeration committee, ASHRAE; Andrea Voigt, director general, EPEE.

Also involved are Stephen Gill of the World Refrigeration Day secretariat, ASHRAE president Sheila Hayter and Jim Curlin, acting head, OzoneAction, UNEP.

EU approach to HFC phase down

Öko-Recherche, the German environmental research and consultancy business, will be hosting a one-hour webinar in close co-operation with the EU Commission, looking at the EU’s approach to reducing HFCs through the F-gas legislation and introducing more energy efficient products through eco-label and energy labelling policies. This will be complemented by best practice examples to achieving both emission reduction goals.

Entitled Increasing energy efficiency while phasing-down HFCs: showcasing the EU example, the webinar will take place at 11:00 CEST on 26 June.

Niccolo Costantini, policy officer, EU Commission (DG Climate Action), will give an update on the implementation of the EU HFC phase-down; Julia Kleinschmidt, policy advisor at Öko-Recherche, will talk on energy efficiency policies in the RAC&HP sector; Benedikt Geitz of Viessmann will present ESyCool green, Viessmann’s R290-based energy system for commercial cooling applications; Jürgen Süß, MD of Efficient Energy GmbH will explain eChiller – the chiller using water as the refrigerant.

To listen in you are asked to register by Friday of this week (June 21) by sending a short email to Nicolai Bannwitz (nb@oekorecherche.de) to receive the log-in details for the webinar session.

Energy efficiency in HFC-free supermarkets

“Natural” refrigerant lobbyists Shecco will be broadcasting a free-to-register webinar on the topic of Accelerating Energy Efficiency in HFC-free Supermarkets.

The webinar will outline some key recommendations for end users to improve energy efficiency in HFC-free refrigeration equipment. Retailers will also share their best practice, lessons learnt and discuss challenges and barriers.

Speakers include Olaf Schulze of Metro AG, Ignacio Gavillan of the Consumer Goods Forum, Sophie Geoghegan of the Environmental Investigation Agency and Klara Zolcer Skacanova of Shecco
