Liebherr supplies HVAC units to Kazakhstan railway

KAZAKHSTAN: Liebherr has supplied the first batch of an order of 550 HVAC systems to the Swiss rolling-stock manufacturer Stadler Rail for a contract in Kazakhstan.

Liebherr Transportation Systems (China) based in Pinghu had been contracted by Stadler Rail Group through its local entity in Kazakhstan to manufacture and supply the 550 HVAC systems over the next five years.

The air conditioning systems are designed and manufactured in China and will be installed in sleeper and couchette coaches ordered by the Federal Railways of Kazakhstan.

The project had to overcome a number of technical challenges including developing a systems that could withstand temperatures as low as -50 °C and the harsh weather conditions in a desert-like environment.
