Propane heat pump in full bloom
15th September 2024IRELAND: A Refra Ignis propane heat pump is delivering sustainability and energy efficiency at a €20m flower processing facility in Dublin.
County-Meath-based Anglo Irish Refrigeration specified the Refra heat pump, offering 101.6kW of cooling capacity and 120kW of heating capacity, for the new 8,500m2 Keeling’s facility at FoodCentral in St Margaret’s. It was installed alongside a Refra propane chiller with two pump stations and a buffer tank.
Keeling’s, a third-generation family business operating and innovating within the fresh produce industry since 1926, wanted sustainability and resource recovery to be integral parts of its refrigerated warehouse project from the outset.
The company’s new facility also utilises heat generated from refrigerated rooms to warm other areas.
The project won the Heat Pump System of the Year award at the recent 2024 Institute of Refrigeration Ireland Industry Awards.
