R290 heat pumps are right gear for Porsche

GERMANY: Panasonic Aquarea R290 heat pumps totalling 240kW have been cascaded to ensure efficient heat supply to the 6,000m² office building of Porsche Financial Services GmbH.
Based in Bietigheim-Bissingen, Porsche Financial Services GmbH is a subsidiary of the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer Porsche AG. It provides automotive financing and leasing, car insurance and credit cards.

The company’s 6,000m² office building was built in 1987 and previously used night storage heating.
Stuttgart-based Saturn Kälte + Klima + Wärmepumpen GmbH installed eight Aquarea BIG M series 30kW R290 heat pumps with control modules and a 3,400 litre buffer tank. Precise control of the heat pumps will ensure even load distribution and optimal performance.
As an interim solution, the existing night storage heating system will remain in place as an emergency backup until the heat pumps have been successfully operated for a full winter.
The installation of the new system required approximately 600 hours of labour and was completed within four weeks. It is estimated that annual savings of €100,000 can be achieved.
