Samsung and the pinwheel blues

SOUTH KOREA: The effectiveness of Samsung’s “wind-free” air conditioning technology is demonstrated in a new video from the Korean manufacturer.

First announced in the Cooling Post at the end of last year, Samsung’s AR9500M was unveiled at the CES 2017 consumer electronics show in Las Vegas in January.

It is said to provide a cooler indoor climate and optimal energy efficiency, while avoiding the discomfort of direct cold airflow, by dispersing the air through 21,000 micro air holes.

The two-step process, which first lowers temperatures in a fast cooling mode and then automatically switches to wind-free, is demonstrated in the video using a series of pinwheels made from temperature-sensitive thermochromic paper.
