Toshiba reaches new heights

UK: Carrier Solutions UK has supplied a Toshiba SHRMe 3-pipe VRF system to the new Reach Hotel in Manchester, a major refurbishment of the former La Reserve Aparthotel.
Gloucestershire-based AC Mechanical Services (ACMS) delivered the £2m mechanical services package to the project which transformed the site from 80 serviced apartments into a 215-room luxury hotel.
The comprehensive refurbishment presented several challenges, including shallow ceiling voids, obstructive beams and unforeseen water leaks. As a result, the original eight-month programme was extended to two years. ACMS overcame these obstacles by tailoring its approach floor by floor. The hotel opened in July last year.
The Toshiba system, comprising SHRMe full inverter heat recovery 3-pipe VRF system with 18 modular rooftop condensers, was integrated with the hotel’s BMS.
The system included individual flow selector boxes per room; simplified room controllers; a centralised manager’s control system; high-performance filters; integrated standalone heat recovery ventilation units in each room; bypass mode capability for fan energy savings during mild weather.
