Engie Quantum adds R515B option

GERMANY: Engie Refrigeration has added R515B as a refrigerant option to its Quantum chiller range.

From this month, the air-cooled, water-cooled and split models of the Quantum series are available with the refrigerant R515B as an alternative to the previous standard refrigerant R1234ze.

Developed as a replacement for R134a in new medium temperature commercial refrigeration, chillers and heat pumps, R515B is an A1, non-flammable refrigerant blend with a GWP of 293. It is a blend of R1234ze (91.1%) and R227ea (8.9%), is said to have zero glide and combines low discharge temperatures with an efficiency to match R134a.

“With the new refrigerant R515B, the chiller achieves almost the same refrigeration capacity and energy efficiency as with R1234ze,” said Daniel Keller. “This means that R515B is suitable for customers from all industries that require optimal refrigeration capacity and also wish to switch to an eco-friendly and sustainable refrigerant.”
