Panasonic adds compact R290 heat pumps

GERMANY:  Panasonic has introduced new compact residential indoor and outdoor units to its Aquarea M Series of R290 air-to-water heat pumps.

Available in 3kW, 5kW, 7kW and 9 kW capacities, the range is suitable for both new-build and retrofit projects, including homes where indoor or outdoor installation space is limited.

The single-fan outdoor unit measures 996mm high, 1,200mm wide and 430mm deep. It can be paired with Panasonic’s new compact all-in-one indoor unit, a bi-bloc system or used as a standalone solution with either a control module or remote controller. At 1,427mm high, the compact all-in-one is 215mm lower than the existing model.

Operating at outdoor temperatures down to -28°C, its water temperatures of up to 75°C at -10°C support boiler replacement projects with high-temperature radiators.

Ratings of up to A+++ at a 35°C flow temperature, together with cooling capability, make the range well suited to low-temperature new-build systems such as Panasonic smart fan coils and under floor heating.

The compact all-in-one achieves an A+ domestic hot water rating and produces temperatures of up to 65°C without an electric heater.

The 5kW prototype delivers sound pressure levels from 26dB(A) at 5m, with an ErP sound power level of 50dB(A).

Integrated handles and pre-installed rear castors help installers move the compact all-in-one unit into position, while front height adjusters simplify levelling and pipework alignment on uneven floors.

Key electrical components are accessible behind a magnetically detachable panel secured with fewer screws.

Panasonic’s Cloud Adaptor is included as standard with every indoor unit. It connects to the Comfort Cloud App, enabling homeowners to remotely control heating and hot water functions and monitor energy consumption.

Installers can use the Aquarea Service Cloud to monitor and maintain customers’ systems remotely.

The 5kW, 7kW and 9kW models will join the Aquarea M Series from spring 2027.
