Siemens valve boosts heat pump efficiency

GERMANY: Siemens has revealed details of a new magnetic expansion valve designed specifically to increase efficiencies of chillers and heat pumps.

Debuted at this week’s MCE2024 in Milan, the MVL702 is said to be easy to integrate into any existing automation system and saves development and testing costs.

Its instant and precise response is said to ensure system stability for commercial heat pumps and chillers as well as high energy efficiency, with an annual energy saving potential of up to 14% for end customers.

Compared to a stepper motor technology, Siemens maintains that OEMs can gain up to 21% more heating capacity when implementing the valve into their existing heat pumps.

The valve also closes automatically in the event of a power failure or cable disconnection, offering additional safety in chiller and heat pump applications.
