Crane workers to strike over pay
25th April 2026
UK: More than a hundred workers at Hitchin-based flow control products manufacturer Crane Building Services and Utilities are to strike in a dispute over pay.
GMB union members will walk out for two weeks, starting Tuesday 28 May, up to and including Friday 7 June.
After the staff voted 84% in favour of strike action, GMB regional organiser Andre Marques said: “Our members have consistently told us they feel undervalued by their employer and that their experience is not respected. These are highly skilled workers who deliver enormous value for Crane BS&U and they deserve to be compensated fairly.”
This is the second time in two years that Crane BS&U workers have taken industrial action over pay.
Crane BS&U has not, as yet, responded to requests for comment.
