Crowther & Shaw buys MAP Mechanical

MAP MD Arran Crabtree (left) agrees the deal with Crowther & Shaw operations director Richard Cowgill

UK: Refrigeration, air conditioning and mechanical solutions contractor Crowther & Shaw has acquired fellow Huddersfield-based company MAP Mechanical.

Crowther & Shaw insists that this strategic takeover aligns with the company’s commitment to expand its expertise and service capabilities across the mechanical, renewables and decarbonisation sectors.

Established for over 30 years, MAP Mechanical was formerly known as B’s Plumbing and Heating and rebranded in 2020 to align with its expansion into the mechanical and renewables sectors.

The company has an annual turnover of £1.5m, employing 11 staff including three apprentices who will all become part of the Crowther & Shaw team.

The two companies have previously worked together on numerous projects.

Founded in 1938, Crowther & Shaw currently employs over 55 staff members, including four apprentices. With an annual turnover of around £13m, mechanical services currently account for 32% of the group’s total revenue. The acquisition of MAP Mechanical is expected to increase the group’s turnover to around £15m.
