HPA offers free membership for MCS installers

UK: To encourage greater collaboration across the heat pump sector, the Heat Pump Association (HPA) is offering free membership for MCS certified heat pump installers.

With just under 100,000 heat pumps sold in 2024, and over 2,000 certified MCS heat pump installation businesses, the initiative is designed to strengthen the voice of installers and their representation within the HPA.

In a statement, the HPA said it recognises the critical role installers will play in accelerating the transition to low-carbon heating and is committed to supporting them with support, knowledge, and effective representation.

Key benefits include access to the HPA Installer LinkedIn Group, copies of the HPA’s fortnightly newsletter, access to industry statistics, the opportunity to review and contribute to HPA’s draft responses to government consultations, access to the association’s forums and representation by an elected installer member.

“We recognise that installers are the backbone of the heat pump sector and will be critical in the transition to low carbon heating in the UK,” commented HPA chief executive Charlotte Lee.

“This new free membership option ensures they have enhanced support and have their voices amplified at no cost. By offering free membership to MCS certified businesses, we’re removing barriers and engaging more participants as we work to  simplify and enhance the path to decarbonised heating.”

Ian Rippin, CEO at MCS, said: “This partnership with the Heat Pump Association strengthens the support available to MCS certified installers. It opens direct access to valuable insights, policy updates, and a platform to share their expertise. Our installers are central to scaling up low-carbon heating in the UK, and this free membership offer ensures they are better connected and informed”
