Livingston factory hosts ministerial visit
25th November 2025
UK: Mitsubishi Electric’s Livingston factory recently hosted a visit by Martin McCluskey, the minister for Energy Consumers and Net Zero.
McCluskey, who is also MP for Inverclyde and Renfrewshire West, was able to see first-hand how Mitsubishi Electric is supporting the UK’s transition to low-carbon heating.
The Livingston factory, which has been operating for over 30 years, claims to be the largest manufacturer of air-source heat pumps in the UK. Employing more than 1,100 people, the site produces Mitsubishi Electric’s Ecodan range of air-to-water heat pumps for both the UK and European markets.
In addition to touring the production lines, he also met with members of the engineering team to discuss skills development and the importance of building a strong, future-ready green workforce.
The Livingston site is home to a dedicated training centre, which provides hands-on courses for installers and engineers from across the UK.
Commenting on his visit, McCluskey said: “It was fantastic to meet apprentices and engineers playing a key role in our clean power mission. Roles such as these are central to our clean energy jobs plan, which will create 400,000 new skilled jobs by 2030.”
