MCS scheme hits 5,000 certified installers

UK: The Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), the UK’s quality mark for small-scale renewable energy installations, has passed a milestone of 5,000 certified contractors.

According to the MCS Data Dashboard, the number of certified contractors has nearly doubled from 2,563 in September 2022. Currently, 77% of MCS contractors are certified for solar PV, 58% for heat pumps, and 34% for battery storage.

MCS insists that this increasing number of certified installers will be crucial for meeting growing demand. To encourage new entrants into the industry, MCS has collaborated with the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) to develop the Low Carbon Heating Technician Apprenticeships.
