Paurick Gaughan RIP
5th January 2026
UK: Paurick Gaughan, founder and managing director of the innovative food and retail drainage company Gel-Clear has died.
The announcement by colleague Nicola Cove on LinkedIn revealed that he passed away on New Year’s Day. He was 58.
With a background as a managing director of a drainage contractor for the food retail industry, Gaughan recognised the ongoing unsolved issues of blocked drains causing huge headaches for supermarket operators.
Gaughan formed Gel-Clear in 2012 specifically to solve the problem with his patented condensate drain tablet to remove and prevent the biofilm responsible for the blockages.
The success of the tablet quickly gained attention, winning a number of top awards, and led to the introduction of further innovative products to address specific problems in the HVACR sector.
“Paurick was my friend, mentor, and one of the most generous and supportive people I have ever had the privilege of knowing,” Nicola Cove writes on LinkedIn. “He believed in people deeply and gave his time, guidance, and encouragement to me without hesitation. His ability to challenge my thinking while making me feel supported was truly special.”
The funeral will be held at 10:30 on Friday, 9 January, at Pleasington Cemetery & Crematorium Tower Rd, Blackburn BB2 5LE.
