UK heat pump installs on track for record year

UK: With 27,000 certified heat pump installations in the first six months of 2024, the MCS insists that the UK is on track to see more installations than ever before.

According to latest figures from the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme), the UK’s quality mark for small-scale renewable energy, installations in the first half of this year were 45% higher than the same period in 2023.

Describing the figures as “fantastic”, the Heat Pump Association’s chief executive Charlotte Lee said: “Clarity and confidence from the new Labour Government on the direction of travel for the electrification of heat will be crucial to continue the momentum and ensure we stay on track for a record year.”

The latest MCS data also reveals increases in solar panels and battery storage installations.
