Vaillant begins UK heat pump production

UK: Vaillant UK has added a heat pump production line at its headquarters in Belper, Derbyshire.

The new line, dedicated to production of Vaillant’s AroThern plus R290 air-to-water heat pump, will run alongside its existing gas boiler production lines.

Vaillant has invested in significant research and development into heat pumps over the last decade and now becomes one of the only heating appliance manufacturers to produce both gas boilers and heat pumps in the UK.

A manufacturer of gas appliances since 1874, Vaillant believes that a combination of hydrogen gas boilers, heat pumps and hybrid systems along with controls and internet connected solutions will be key to meeting the government’s decarbonisation targets.

Vaillant is supporting the need for training and upskilling on heat pump technology with a range of vocational courses including product training and CPD courses that can be carried out online and in one of the company’s six centres of excellence and other partner training locations across the UK.

The AroThern plus was introduced by the German boiler manufacturer in 2020. It is said to be capable of operating down to -25°C and achieving higher flow temperatures of up to 75ºC. With sound power as low as 54dB(A), the AroTherm plus is produced in outputs of 3.5, 5, 7 and 12kW. SCOP is up to 5.03.
