Williams certifies embodied carbon calculations

UK: Williams Refrigeration has published embodied carbon calculations for all its core products with CIBSE TM65 certification.

The King’s-Lynn-based company is using the CIBSE TM65 mid-level calculation method for the figures, which have now been certified by CIBSE under their Embodied Carbon Verification (ECV) scheme.

This independent verification scheme validates calculations through an industry-recognised body.

“Talking to our business partners and end-user customers we realised early on that embodied carbon figures are set to become a ‘must-have’ for foodservice equipment suppliers,” said Malcolm Harling, Williams Refrigeration’s sales and marketing director.

“The engineering team, supported by our environmental consultants, have been working very hard to collate the data required to compute them as quickly and accurately as possible. Their success means we are amongst the first equipment manufacturers to have our calculations produced, verified by CIBSE, and available within our Revit symbols in Specifi,” he added.

The Williams’ core products with embodied carbon figures include a selection of Jade counters and cabinets, blast chillers, Chef’s Drawers, Onyx prep stations, UBCs and the under-counter Amber and Aztra cabinets.

The company said it is working on having figures for all its product families in the near future.
