100 events celebrate Heat Pump Day
21st October 2026
BELGIUM: Nearly 100 events are being organised this year to celebrate Heat Pump Day, according to the European Heat Pump Association (EHPA).
Established by the EHPA in 2024, today’s Heat Pump Day seeks to raise awareness around the benefits of heat pumps.
“From the factory floor to research labs and sales desks, the heat pump sector provides work across Europe,” commented EHPA director general Paul Kenny. “As people turn to heat pumps and away from fossil fuels, spurred on by high gas prices, the value of the industry will grow still further. The European Commission’s focus on lowering electricity taxation, if rapidly acted upon by Member States, will also be a key driver of the shift.”
The EHPA points to the importance of the sector, citing new research showing that around 480,000 people are employed directly or indirectly in the European heat pump sector.
For this year’s Heat Pump Day, the EHPA is organising a visit to an industrial heat pump in a sugar factory in Tienen, Belgium, on 27 October, with the EU-funded SPIRIT project.
