Aermec owner acquires Spanish distributor Airlan

ITALY/SPAIN: The Giordano Riello International Group (GRIG), owner of Aermec, has acquired the Spanish air conditioning companies Airlan SA and Airlan Industrial SA.

Airlan is a distributor of Aermec products in Spain. The company was founded in 1989 and is headquartered in Bilbao. A combined turnover of over €65m is expected this year. Airlan operates through six offices in Spain – Barcelona, La Coruña, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Tenerife – and is also present in Peru and the Dominican Republic through two subsidiaries. It has over 120 employees.

“Our collaboration with Airlan has deep roots, dating back to over twenty years of partnership in the distribution of our products in Spain,” said Aermec president Alessandro Riello.

“With this acquisition, we strengthen our direct presence on the Spanish market, enriching our network of international distribution subsidiaries and already active in the UK, France, Germany, Poland and the Americas, alongside the historic, consolidated and widespread presence on the market of our country. This step demonstrates our desire for growth and our commitment to consolidating the Group’s leadership in the air conditioning sector, both in Italy and worldwide,” he added.

Riello was formed in 1922, manufacturing its first air conditioner in 1961 and creating the Aermec brand in 1963. GRIG turnover is expected to exceed €600m this year.
