ASHRAE supports World Refrigeration Day

USA: ASHRAE has joined with associations and societies around the world in pledging support for a World Refrigeration Day on June 26.

The brainchild of UK refrigeration consultant Steve Gill, who sits on ASHRAE’s Refrigeration Technical Committee, the World Refrigeration Day is intended to raise public awareness and understanding of the significant role that the refrigeration, air conditioning technologies play in modern life and society. It has already gained support from associations and societies across Europe, the USA, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Australia and Africa.

ASHRAE president Sheila J Hayter said it was pleased to support World Refrigeration Day, viewing it as an initiative to highlight the important impact of refrigeration on our world.

“Our Society remains committed to the advancement of new refrigerant and refrigeration technologies and innovations through the development of standards, research and training that shape the built community globally. We look forward to continuing our partnership with other dedicated organisations, as we work toward achieving a more sustainable environment for generations to come,” she added.
