Austria wins gold at EuroSkills

DENMARK: Austrian Jonas Danninger, an employee of Hauser GmbH, won the Refrigeration and Air Conditioning gold medal at last week’s EuroSkills competition in Herning, Denmark.
The winners were announced on Saturday at the 15,000 capacity Jyske Bank Boxen indoor arena after three days of intense competition.
Maxime Armange of France, an engineer with Axima Réfrigération, won silver, and bronze went to Álex Caro Tello of Spain, a student at the Virgen del Pilar secondary school in Zaragoza. Medallions for Excellence were presented to Jakub Stískal of Slovakia and Denmark’s Nicolai Rosted Callesen.
Held every two years, EuroSkills, organised by WorldSkills Europe, sees hundreds of young people under the age of 25 from 33 countries across Europe come together to compete for the chance to become the Best in Europe in their chosen skill or profession.
This year’s competition saw 597 young professionals from 32 countries competing across 38 different skills categories.
The competition stages at Herning’s MCH Messecenter attracted 102,934 visitors, including HM The King of Denmark.
