BDR Thermea completes GI Holding purchase

ITALY: Netherlands-based indoor climate solutions company BDR Thermea has announced the full, 100% acquisition of Italian HVAC manufacturer G I Holding.

The acquisition builds on a partnership that began in 2023, when BDR Thermea acquired a 25% minority stake in the Italian company.

Headquartered in Latisana, Italy, G I Holding manufactures and markets a range of heat pumps, liquid chillers, air handling units, rooftop-packaged units and fan coil units under the Clint, KTK Klimatechnik and Novair brands. The company also offers tailor-made cooling systems for server rooms and IT cooling applications under the Montair brand.

Based in Apeldoorn, BDR Thermea owns the Baxi, De Dietrich, Remeha, Brötje, Chappée and Baymak heating brands. The company has been selling GI Holding’s medium- to high-capacity heat pumps under the Baxi brand in Italy, Spain and Portugal, since 2020.

G I Holding’s production facilities in Latisana, Ronchis, and Rivignano, join Baxi’s established presence in Bassano del Grappa, Veneto, strengthens BDR Thermea’s network of 14 manufacturing sites across Europe.

Tjarko Bouman, CEO of BDR Thermea, described the acquisition as a defining moment for the company. “With this step, we significantly expand our ability to serve the full spectrum of commercial HVAC needs – from residential complexes and hotels to data centres, education and retail environments,” he said.

Upon closing, Alberto Favero will be appointed MD of G I Holding in addition to his current role as MD of BDR Thermea Italy.
