Beer fridge opens for patriotic Canadians

CANADA: Canadians might be celebrating with a free beer today if they can sing the Canadian national anthem correctly.

Birthdays and beer are synonymous, so as Canada celebrates its birthday today with a public holiday, the beer company Molson has come up with a beer fridge that will only open if the Canadian national anthem is sung correctly.

The trick to opening the door seems to have more to do with knowing the lyrics, the timing, and singing the national anthem – ‘O Canada’ – all the way through, rather than having perfect pitch, as this video suggests.

Earlier this year, in another clever stunt at the Sochi Winter Olympics, Molson produced a fridge which would only open for Canadian passport holders.

Happy birthday, Canada!
