Beijer Ref to buy Norwegian wholesaler
SWEDEN: Europe’s biggest refrigeration wholesaler, Beijer Ref, is to acquire all shares in Børresen Cooltech A/S, a leading Norwegian refrigeration wholesaler.
Børresen Cooltech, was founded in 1968 as Børresen AS, changing its name to Børresen Cooltech following the acquisition of Cool Tech AS in 2000. With sales close to SEK60m (€6.55m) Børresen Cooltech is headquartered in Oslo with associated warehousing, retail and workshop.
The company also has offices in Stavanger, Bergen and Tromsø, employs 20 people and stocks a wide range of refrigeration and air conditioning products. Brand names include Frascold, Lu-Ve Contardo, Bicold, Zanotti, Carel, Eliwell, Danfoss, Johnson Controls and SWEP. Børresen Cooltech also has a partnership deal with Advansor to sell the Danish manufacturer’s transcritical CO2 refrigeration system in Norway.
“Børresen Cooltech is a well-established refrigeration wholesaler in Norway and is considered to have a good development potential as part of Beijer Ref. The acquisition is strategically important for strengthening the Group’s position in Norway”, said Per Bertland, ceo of Beijer Ref.
Børresen Cooltech will be integrated into Beijer Ref’s organisation which, it is said, will provide cost synergies as well as increasing the Group’s market share.
