Daikin plans R&D company in India
27th June 2026
JAPAN/INDIA: Daikin has announced plans to establish an air conditioning research and development company in India.
The establishment of Daikin Research and Development India Ltd in Haryana is aimed at strengthening the company’s product development capabilities in the global south, including Asia, Oceania, and Africa.
An R&D centre will also be constructed in the same state, with completion targeted for June 2028.
The subsidiary will have a registered location in New Delhi with a capital base of around JPY13.6bn (US$84m).
Daikin established Daikin Airconditioning India Private Ltd in India in 2000, initially as a joint venture before becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary in 2004. Since then, the Japanese HVAC giant has rapidly expanded, making India its central manufacturing and R&D hub to supply both the rapidly growing local market and export regions like Africa and South Asia.
