Danfoss recognises South African CO2 pioneer

Golden-danfoss-valveSOUTH AFRICA: Danfoss has presented a golden valve to South African installer Commercial Refrigeration Services for being CO2 pioneers in Africa.

Founded in 1976 in Johannesburg, Commercial Refrigeration Services (CRS) has been a Danfoss Partner since 2002 and built nearly 100 CO2 transcritical solutions in South African stores including Woolworths and Makro. Danfoss has delivered 10,000 high-pressure CO2 valves to stores worldwide, and valve number 10,000 is now installed in Woolworths in Johannesburg.

Congratulating CRS, Danfoss application manager Kenneth Bank Madsen said: “By being a leading innovator, they have proven that energy-efficient CO2 is possible on the African continent. I am confident that more companies will look into setting up new stores based on CO2 also in warmer climates with advantages such as lower energy bills for the store owners and greatly improved climate performance.”

CRS is a leader in green cooling and heating solutions in Africa and a specialist in CO2 systems. It launched its first CO2-only refrigeration system in 2010 and its first booster system in 2012.

“Next in line is a CO2 training facility that will create CO2 technology awareness empowering Africa to lead the way into a greener energy efficient environment,” commented Shaun Hadfield from CRS.
