Delaware to offer lower GWP incentives

USA: Delaware is to introduce incentives to businesses to install refrigeration systems using lower GWP refrigerants.

Delaware’s Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) says its Cool Switch Low Impact Refrigerant Programme aims to reduce the amount of HFCs released into the atmosphere.

Incentives for installing new systems or making upgrades to existing systems will be offered to participating municipalities, businesses, and industries. Cool Switch programme grants will be available for both new systems and existing system retrofits that utilise refrigerants with lower GWP impacts.

Delaware is also proposing regulations that, if finalised, may phase out the use of certain HFCs.

Cool Switch will be funded through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). RGGI is a market-based programme among the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
