Fire hits Samsung factory in Algeria
ALGERIA: Significant damage is reported to Samsung’s joint venture air conditioning factory in Algeria following a fire yesterday.
Eighteen fire tenders attended the incident at the Samha Samsung factory which is said to have destroyed the refrigerator, air conditioner and washing machine production shops – nearly 25% of the total site. No one was reported injured.
When built in 2010, the Samha Samsung factory cost around €60m and was the fifth largest plant invested in by Samsung globally. It manufactures a range of domestic appliances including around 600 air conditioners residential split system air conditioners per day.
