Glen Dimplex recalls portable ACs

GD-recallAUSTRALIA: Glen Dimplex Australia has issued a recall on a number of its portable air conditioners after fears of overheating.

The units affected are GDC18RWA and GDC18RBA models manufactured in 2009 and sold throughout Australia by Harvey Norman, Good Guys, Betta Electrical, Bi Rite, Retravision, Radio Rentals, Clive Peeters, Clive Anthonys, Domayne, Joyce Mayne, Kambos, Porters, Rick Hart, AGL and Origin Energy.

The affected serial numbers are 93800001-93801000, 94000001-94001068, 94600001-94601750 and 95000001-95001068.

The manufacturer warns that if used for an extended duration there is the potential for the motor capacitor to overheat with the potential that they could catch fire.

Consumers with affected products are instructed to cease use of the portable air conditioner immediately and contact Glen Dimplex Australia on 1300 556 816 between 8.30am-5.00pm EST (Mon-Fri) or email techservau@glendimplex.com.au.

Glen Dimplex will arrange for the product to be collected and replaced with an equivalent model.
