USA: Hillphoenix has won a GreenChill award for achieving the highest number of installations of advanced refrigeration systems in the past year.

The Achievement Award – Store Certification Excellence is the fifth award Hillphoenix has received from the US Environmental Protection Agency’s GreenChill Partnership programme, since the programme launched in 2007. For the third year in a row, Hillphoenix was the only non-grocery recipient of a GreenChill Store Certification Excellence award.

Welcoming this latest success, Hillphoenix’s director of sustainable technologies Scott Martin said: “We are committed not only to the research and development of sustainable technologies but also to making our customers aware of the competitive and environmental advantages of investing in sustainable systems. Our environmental improvements, both in alternative refrigerants and energy efficiency, have helped remove over 2 billion pounds of harmful emissions from the atmosphere since 1996.”

In the mid-1990s, Hillphoenix introduced one of the first cooling technologies to reduce global-warming emissions. Today, about one quarter of the systems shipped by Hillphoenix use its Second Nature natural refrigerants.

The GreenChill Store Certification Excellence Award goes to the commercial systems manufacturer that has installed advanced refrigeration systems in the most GreenChill certified stores in the past year. Hillphoenix achieved 101 store certifications.

“Hillphoenix continues its many-year history of active engagement with GreenChill,” said Tom Land EPA’s GreenChill manager. “Hillphoenix is earning an award for supporting supermarkets with its many innovative options for moving toward environmentally-friendly refrigeration systems.”

EPA’s GreenChill Partnership works with supermarkets to reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease their impact on the ozone layer and climate change. The Partnership helps supermarkets transition to environmentally friendlier refrigerants, reduce harmful refrigerant emissions, and adopt greener refrigeration technologies and environmental best practices. There are approximately 11,000 GreenChill Partner stores throughout the USA.
