House of Lords event marks HVACR Women Week
24th October 2026
UK: As the industry prepares to celebrate the inaugural Global HVACR Women Week, the sector came together on Thursday to mark the launch and discuss the sector’s successes.
The event at the House of Lords, hosted by Liberal Democrat peer Lord Teverson, saw 160 leading figures from across the sector in attendance to discuss women’s work experiences and retention within the industry.
Global HVACR Women Week, which runs from 25-31 October, was the brainchild of World Refrigeration Day founder Steve Gill. Its purpose as is to connect HVACR voices across the world, helping to share knowledge and build relationships that can continue long after the week itself.

Steve Gill, who organised the event, remarked on the “extraordinary sense of positivity” and shared purpose in the room. “We brought together people from across the heating, cooling and refrigeration sector, each with their own perspective, but collectively telling a much bigger story.
“Our industry contributes so much to everyday life, yet too often remains invisible. This was an opportunity to celebrate the people who make it happen, raise our collective ambitions and recognise just how much more we can achieve by working together. I came away feeling genuinely inspired and proud to be part of this industry”
Lord Teverson, a former Lib Dem spokesperson for Energy and Climate Change, is a key political advocate for sustainable cooling, refrigeration efficiency, and the cold chain. His primary links with the refrigeration industry include his time as chair of the Birmingham Policy Commission on Cold Chain.
