Ice maker Maja acquired by Marel

GERMANY: Maja, the German manufacturer of ice makers and food processing equipment, has been acquired by Icelandic food processing systems company Marel.

Founded in 1955 and based in Kehl-Goldscheuer, MAJA has around 200 employees and achieved annual revenues of €30m last year.

With its headquarters in Gardabaer, Iceland, Marel is a global business providing advanced processing systems and services to the poultry, meat and fish industries. It recorded sales of €1,038m in 2017.

“MAJA’s innovative product range is a good fit to Marel and we have great respect for the technical capabilities their dedicated team has built up over the years.
