Illegal R134a found on bus in Serbia

SERBIA: A further attempt to smuggle small quantities of refrigerant across borders by bus has been uncovered, this time by authorities in Serbia.

At the end of July, officers of Serbian customs’ anti-smuggling department, in cooperation with the police, intercepted a bus heading to Germany on Serbia’s A1 motorway between Vranje and Niš.

Amongst 13 bottles of undeclared Botox and 6kg of unbranded perfume concentrates was discovered seven 13.6kg non-refillable cylinders of R134a. The total haul was valued at RSD450,000 (€3,840).

The Chinese manufactured refrigerant had originally been sourced from Kosovo.

The goods were seized and the driver fined RSD60,000 (€512).
