Indian customs seize 80 tonnes of R22
31st January 2015INDIA: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials have seized 80,000kg of R22 worth more than 1 crore (€143,000).
According to the Times of India, the consignment from China had been seized at the Madhavaram container freight station in the northern suburbs of Chennai. It had been wrongly declared as R134a.
Official sources are said to have reported that the importer runs a factory on the outskirts of Chennai and had been filling smaller cans with R22 gas and selling it as R134a.
