Lennox Samsung JV ductless units launched

USA: The Samsung Lennox North American joint venture, announced last year, has unveiled its first ductless heat pump offerings – the Samsung mini-split system and Varix VRF.

The Lennox Powered by Samsung mini-split systems employ R32 refrigerant and are said to provide advanced compatibility with the Samsung SmartThings app.

Available in sizes from 0.75 to 2 tons, the mini-splits are available – standard efficiency, low ambient and high efficiency.

The standard efficiency model, MWHD, achieves SEER2 up to 25 and HSPF2 up to 10.

The MWLD low ambient model provides 100% heating capacity at -4°F outdoor temperature and high heating capacity at -22°F outdoor temperature. It achieves the same SEER2 as the MWHD but with HSPF2 up to 11.

The high efficiency version, MWPD, uses its variable-capacity operation to run the unit at low most of the time, using only the amount of energy necessary to meet comfort need.

The Lennox Powered by Samsung Varix VRF lineup is available in sizes from 5,000-96,000Btu/h for a system capacity of up to 38tons.

Available in heat pump and heat recovery, it is possible to connect up to three outdoor units for system capacities up to 38 tons, and connect up to 64 indoor units.

Initially available with R410A units, R32 compatible units are said to be  coming soon.

“The launch of Lennox Powered by Samsung mini-split and Varix VRF systems reflects the power of our joint venture with Samsung and our ability to satisfy demand trends with leading solutions,” said Lennox CEO Alok Maskara.

The joint venture plans to expand the Lennox Powered by Samsung product offering with additional launches in 2025, including new single-zone heat pump models and low GWP VRF products.

Under the JV agreement agreed last year, US manufacturer Lennox and Korean company Samsung will sell ductless AC and heat pump (mini-split, multi-split, VRF) products in the United States and Canada. Samsung ductless AC and heat pump products under the Lennox powered by Samsung brand will be sold through Lennox stores and direct-to-dealer network. The joint venture will continue to supply Samsung-branded products to the existing Samsung HVAC distributors and representatives in the United States and Canada.
