Munters to close Belgian data centre cooling factory

SWEDEN: Munters is to close its European data centre cooling factory in Dison, Belgium, following significant losses in 2018.

The Swedish HVAC, dehumidification and air treatment manufacturer saw its data centre orders fall 57% in the fourth quarter to SEK225m. This was mainly blamed on reduced orders in Europe, which decreased by SEK492m year-on-year

The 9,720m² factory was acquired with Munter’s purchase of air conditioning systems manufacturer Toussaint-Nyssenne in 2008. A total of 216 employees are affected by the decision to close the factory which is planned for September. The company’s US data centre factory in Virginia is unaffected by the decision.
