Radermacher is double medal winner

FRANCE: Following his IoR J&E Hall Gold Medal award last month, Dr Reinhard Radermacher has received a further award from the International Institute.
Dr Radermacher, co-founder of the Centre for Environmental Energy Engineering at the University of Maryland, has been awarded the IIR’s Gustav Lorentzen Medal for his work in the field of research into alternative refrigerants and his many noteworthy contributions to the field of refrigeration sciences.
Last month, Dr Radermacher picked up the J&E Hall Gold Medal for his outstanding practical contribution to the air conditioning and refrigeration industry at the UK Institute of Refrigeration’s annual dinner in London.
His latest award is one of a number to be presented by the IIR at its International Congress of Refrigeration which is being held this August in Yokohama, Japan.
The IIR Medal of Merit, normally awarded to one individual for outstanding achievements in the promotion of the IIR, has this year gone to two people: Prof Hein Auracher, formerly at the Institute of Energy Engineering of the Technische Universität Berlin and now editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Refrigeration, and Alberto Cavalini of the University of Padova.
The IIR Science and Technology Medal for outstanding achievements in science and/or technology has gone to Shigeru Koyama of Kyushu University, Japan.
