Sabadell LD outbreak cases rise to 34

SPAIN: A further six confirmed cases in the last few days has brought  the total number of people affected in the Sabadell legionnaires’ disease outbreak to 34.

Four have died in the outbreak which is thought to come from an, as yet, unidentified cooling tower.

Those affected have been between the ages of 45 and 94. Twenty-two remain in hospital.

The Public Health Agency of Catalonia (ASPCAT) has inspected and disinfected 38 cooling towers in the area and has now begun to begun to review the low risk areas, such as ornamental fountains and irrigation systems.
