Single source for York air conditioning

York-logoMALAYSIA: Johnson Controls’ subsidiary York Malaysia Sales and Service Sdn Bhd (YMSS) will become the exclusive distributor of York unitary air conditioners from July 1.

The move will bring the complete York air conditioning range from residential to complex commercial/industrial applications – under one entity.

Johnson Controls, which owned 30% of YMSS, acquired the remainder from its former partner, OYL, last September. Under the terms of the sale, York unitary products will continue to be distributed through Group Associated Sdn Bhd until June 30.

“YMSS looks forward to taking the York brand to the next level in Malaysia by tapping into the Johnson Controls global network of resources and expertise, including 170,000 colleagues worldwide,” said YMSS general manager Tang Siew Hao. “This new arrangement places Johnson Controls as the single point of contact for York equipment needs and services in Malaysia.”

YMSS has four offices and service branches in Petaling Jaya, Penang, Johor Bahru and Kota Kinabalu and three more service branches at Kemaman, Kuching and Malacca. More branches are also being planned.

York is known for cooling some of Malaysia’s most iconic buildings including Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2, Pavilion and Mid Valley City, and others.

The York brand has been sold in Malaysia since 1978. YMSS was formed in 1988.
