Swegon buys Belgian firm P Lemmens

P Lemmens air handling unit productionSWEDEN: Swegon is claiming European market leadership in compact air handlers following its acquisition of Belgian company P Lemmens.

Formed in 1977 with headquarters in Gembloux, P Lemmens’ produces fans, air curtains and heat recovery products but its largest product area is compact air handling units with built-in controls. The company reported a turnover of €26m in 2013 and has 59 staff.

Welcoming P Lemmens into the Swegon group, Hannu Saastamoinen, Swegon’s ceo said: “This acquisition makes Swegon the clear market leader in compact air handling units in Europe. With their strong product range Lemmens will complement Swegon’s well-known Gold air handling unit range extremely well when it comes to lower air volumes. Through this acquisition we also continue to strengthen our market position in continental Europe.”

P Lemmens will remain as a separate entity and will continue to develop its own business together with its current partner network. Stephan Lemmens will continue as a minority shareholder and managing director of the company.

Swegon is part of the Latour group and operates six production plants and laboratories in Sweden, Finland, Italy and India. It employs 1450 staff and boasts a turnover of €330m. Amongst its companies is Italian chiller manufacturer Blue Box which it acquired in 2010.
