Taipei wins Gold at WorldSkills

BRAZIL: Pei-Hao Juan from Chinese Taipei took Gold at WorldSkills 2015 in Sao Paulo tonight.

Chris Bailie of the UK and Jianwei Zhong of China took Silver, while Marc-Antoine Bettez of Canada and Brock Miesner of the USA won Bronze.

Approximately 200,000 visitors were thought to have attended the Competition – the largest in the history of WorldSkills, and the first time the Competition was held in Latin America.

This year’s event, the 43rd WorldSkills Competition, saw 1,192 competitors from 72 countries competing for medals in 50 different skills.

In the refrigeration and air conditioning competition, 26 competitors were judged across a series of stand-alone modules. The skills included refrigeration pipe-work, electrical wiring, component and system installation, commissioning and adjustment, fault finding, repair and part replacement, refrigerant recovery and control and work practices and safety. Competitors in the refrigeration sector were drawn from countries across the world, including North and South America, Europe, Scandinavia, the Middle and Far East, Africa and Australia.
