Turbocor joins list of 1000 environmental solutions

SWITZERLAND: The Danfoss Turbocor oil-free air conditioning and refrigeration compressor has been named as one of the top 1000 solutions for protecting the environment by the Solar Impulse Foundation.

The recognition of the top 1000 environmental products commemorates the 2015–2016 circumnavigation of the earth by Solar Impulse 2, the Swiss long-range experimental solar-powered aircraft.

Solutions are being chosen that protect the environment in a profitable way and awarding them the Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label. The one thousand Efficient Solutions are individually assessed by independent experts for the World Alliance.

A world leader in oil free, magnetic bearing compressor technology for the HVAC industry, Danfoss says this prestigious award further validates its Turbocor oil free compressor as being a viable solution for reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions, reducing energy consumption, while providing an ROI in less than 3 years.

The Solar Impulse Foundation says the Efficient Solution label “seeks to bridge the gap between ecology and economy, bringing together protection of the environment and financial viability to show that these solutions are not expensive fixes to problems, but rather opportunities for clean economic growth”.

The Turbocor compressor has achieved the high score of 4.0 assessed on the criteria of technological feasibility, environmental & socio-economic benefits and profitability.

“The market for highly efficient solutions is growing rapidly, partly because of the increased focus on energy savings and partly because of urbanisation which creates a need for more commercial buildings. Turbocor demonstrates that bold technology strategies are instrumental in securing long-term growth and profitability in our core businesses,” said Danfoss president and CEO, Kim Fausing.
