TÜV to build Europe’s largest test house
11th December 2014GERMANY: TÜV SÜD is to build what it is claimed will be Europe’s largest air conditioning and refrigeration equipment test house.
Construction has begun on the new 8,500m² building in Geiselbullach in Olching, around 20km north of its current test house in Munich. It is due to open in the second half of 2015.
The new building, needed because further expansion of the current Munich facility was impossible, will feature the latest facilities for prototype and product testing of refrigeration equipment and components. The current facility will ultimately be converted to offices.
TÜV SÜD is a leading testing and certification organisation catering to a broad range of industries. Its refrigeration and air conditioning focus includes laboratory testing of temperature-controlled transport and maintenance of cold chain logistics. This includes services from calibration of thermometers and temperature monitoring devices to ATP approval of vehicle cooling systems.
Other priorities lie in the testing of a wide range of refrigeration equipment including refrigerated counters and heat pump, air conditioning and refrigeration components such as heat exchangers, compressors, fans, and fixtures. Testing is carried out to meet the requirements of the applicable national and international standards and guidelines.
